Best of 2021

My Top 11 photographs this year were again very difficult to pick as my time was spent more on my business, our bathroom remodel and avoiding COVID then in taking photographs. I got more shots in than 2020 due mostly to a trip to Montana to shoot a wedding. Most of my comments from last years’ intro paragraph speak true for 2021 as well. It’s been a tough haul for most creatives but we have to just push through this thing safely and make sure we continue to practice our art because not only do WE need it personally but our family, friends and fans need the escape now more than ever.

Bitar Mansion
Laurelhurst, Portland

I started a multi-year photographic documentation of the Harry Green house in Laurelhurst. One of the most beautiful structures that still exists in Oregon is this 1927 Herman Brookman stunner. I’m not only taking photographs but also providing architectural metalwork to the project. It’s things like this that really give me a reason to get up in the morning. Proud to be part of this historic restoration!

Homestead
Near Judith Gap, Montana

Homesteading urbex somewhere between Judith Gap and Harlowton, MT. The color version was just fine but the B&W conversion really makes the mood.

Opening Time
Mary’s Club - Downtown Portland

After over 67 years in its SW Broadway location Portland's iconic strip club @marysclub moved due to the recent sale of the building.
I asked the owner for the opportunity to shoot the interior and was delighted to be told yes. So much history in this establishment.

Nap Time
Yellowstone National Park - Wyoming

We got another few days in the park on this trip and it’s always a great experience with plenty to see and photograph. This bison posed for me in front of a historic garage near Old Faithful.

Pine Creek Falls
Pine Creek - Montana

This beautiful waterfall was not far from where we were staying in Emigrant. After a short hike we popped out to this wonder and climbed all over it for about an hour.

Kiss
Sacajawea Hotel, Three Forks, Montana

I got to shoot another wedding! Luckily for me I was a second shooter so there was no pressure and I could shoot what I wanted and leave the punch list to the primary.

Chris Dowd
Fishbone, Bossanova Ballroom, Portland

I got the nasty stare that just made my evening… getting home to edit and see the reflection of the keys in Chris’ shades. Yes! Nailed it!
